My big horse needs some big attention
The snowy weather finally broke. So I caught some rays in the horse pasture yesterday afternoon, sitting in one of the old Rubbermaid adirondack chairs we have down at the barn. (It's not the beach or the carribbean, but it fits my budget. And also, it's just a pleasant way to spend time with the horses. You can catch us down here on many a Friday night with the horses in the summer.)
Toby my percheron X is obviously in need of some attention. And, no, I don't feed him tons of treats by hand, there's no sugar in my pockets, and I didn't slather myself in molasses.
This is just my very big, very friendly, and quite nosy p-e-t.

Oh he is so divine, siiiiigh. I'm more than a wee bit enamoured with Toby ... What's the "X" part, may one ask?
I love how Teyla is pretending *so hard* that she's really, honestly, not remotely interested in any of this cuddling business.

Hi Jules,
Teyla is such a funny horse. She always does this, pretends she's not interested while dying to be loved on, when I'm petting a horse who actually allows himself/herself to be petted. Teyla allows it sometimes. When we first brought her home, she was so terrified because she'd been really mistreated. I used to put a chair in the middle of the round pen or a bucket, sit on it, and I could feel her creeping up on me until she'd be standing a foot or so away. It's about the best she can do. For the first year, she wouldn't even make eye contact. Now she can do that. As you see here. ;-)
Toby is 3/4 percheron and 1/4 quarter horse.

I have two lovable quarter horses. They love to be loved on but are respectful of my space. I love to put my nose against theirs and smell the air that comes from deep inside. They let me do that.
