Horses and riders create living history

A history enthusiast dressed as a soldier rides his horse past a burning house during the re-enactment of Napoleon's famous battle of Austerlitz.
Last weekend, a bunch of history enthusiasts dressed as soldiers and rode their horses during a re-enactment of Napoleon’s famous battle of Austerlitz, in Slavkov, near the southern Moravian City of Brno, Czech Republic (wiki). Over 3,800 history enthusiasts participated in the battle reenactment to mark its 200th anniversary.

An organizer rushes to help a history enthusiast after he fell from a horse, watched by a colleague before the re-enactment.
I would love to have been there! What an event for horse and rider.
The photos from this event inspire me to think of the fact that we riders today are carrying on an ancient tradition that’s been key in the outcome of world events―horsemanship.
